We visited Zoo Negara on Sunday. Our long time plan to bring Reya there. Last i visited zoo was 10 years back and i would say they have improved tremendously and the animals no longer looking lazy and sleepy. Instead they seems to be very happy and actively moving around. They are kept in an environment similar and close to their natural habitat. Zoo Negara over the years has adopted an open zoo concept and i believe this is why the animals are so happy, active and surely worth the visit.
The entrance fee is as follows:
Reya gets to enter for free. We bought entrance ticket excluding the Giant Panda.. it was so crowded due to Sunday and the last day of school term holiday here in Malaysia. The highlight was definitely the Multi Animal Show at amphitheater. It was so professionally handled and the animals are well trained.. worth the wait for it which starts around 3pm (they do have two showtimes- morning and afternoon). We watched parrots, birds, snake and sea lion in the show.
Reya refuse to walk and we had to carry her around... pheww tiring though and only after bribed with an ice cream she wants to walk and enjoyed sight seeing. She was able to identify the animals, some of it and wants to touch it.. (yeah.. it is wild animals..not a pet dear baby!).
She had a fun at the butterfly enclosure.. they had thousands of it and friendly ones as it flies around us and Reya get to touch some.. She were giggling happily when the butterflies flew away after she touches them.
They do have restaurants and cafes in the Zoo but the prices were so expensive. They do allow outside food. Next we going to visit night safari in zoo (probably in Melaka) as they don't have it here. Animals will be so active at nights especially the lions and tigers.
